Total Defense Quadruples North American Antivirus Product Market Share

REDWOOD SHORES, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Total Defense, Inc., the leading provider of solutions to combat the growing threat of cybercrime, today announced that its security products have made significant strides in market share according to a recent North American antivirus software report issued by OPSWAT. According to the report, Total Defense was the fastest growing paid AntiVirus solution in North America, quadrupling its market share in just six months, outpacing the share of many of its competitors including McAfee, Trend Micro and Kaspersky.

Microsoft Shows Big Gains in North America and Worldwide Antivirus Markets

OPSWAT released their quarterly antivirus market share report today, with an additional section featuring instant messenger applications. The report compares the most popular antivirus vendors and products in North America and worldwide, as well as Windows operating system usage in North America and worldwide. Both of these sections also feature a comparison to the previous six-month period. The instant messaging section of the report shows the market share of IM applications worldwide.

New Metascan Packages Available

With the release of Metascan version 3.6, new pre-built packages of Metascan are now available with 4, 8, 12, and 16 embedded antivirus engines. These packages make it possible for customers to experience the powerful scanning of many antivirus engines without needing custom configurations. Using the standard Metascan installation process, organizations can integrate up to 16 engines from around the world to get dramatically increased zero-hour detection capabilities. OPSWAT's Professional Services team can also extend these packages with additional engines to increase Metascan to 20+ engines.

OPSWAT Helps SF State Contribute to Healthcare System for Developing Countries

OPSWAT, a San Francisco based security software company, is helping San Francisco State University (SFSU) contribute to the development of OpenMRS, a customizable open source medical records system. As part of an internship program with the computer science department at SFSU, OPSWAT hires students to work at their SOMA office and makes donations to the university and the CS department. OPSWAT makes additional donations to the computer science department’s involvement in OpenMRS to help students participate in coding an open source medical record platform that helps developing countries.

OPSWAT Supports New Windows 8 Applications

OPSWAT today announced the introduction of support for Windows 8 in the OESIS Framework, the industry standard for detecting and managing endpoint software applications. OESIS Framework, which is currently integrated into solutions from Cisco, Juniper, Citrix, F5 and many others, includes support for thousands of software applications compatible with Windows, Mac, Linux and Android operating systems, and will also support applications for Windows 8 as they become available.
